Realme 5i to launch in Vietnam on January 6th, appears to be a rebranded Realme 5

Singapore’s IMDA authority had recently certified the upcoming Realme 5i smartphone. Now, Realme Vietnam has officially confirmed through its Facebook account that it will be announcing the Realme 5i smartphone on January 6th. At the same time, a Vietnamese online retailer FPTShop has listed the smartphone before its official announcement. The listing reveals the entire specifications of the phone along with its renders and pricing. The listing suggests that the Realme 5i will be a rebranded version of the Realme 5 for some of the South-east Asian markets.

Realme had launched the Realme 5 smartphone in India in August. The Realme 5i that has appeared on Vietnamese retailer site resembles with Realme 5 in terms of specs and design. The only major difference is that the Realme 5i does not feature a diamond-cut design that the Realme 5 has on its rear.

The FTPShop listing of the Realme 5i states that it is fitted with a 6.52-inch display with dewdrop notch. It features HD+ resolution of 720 x 1,600 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 665 mobile platform is at the helm of the Realme 5i. The listing reveals that the phone will come in a 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant in Vietnam. The country is also expected to come in a 3GB + 32GB model.

The phone will run ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9 Pie. The device has a front-facing 8-megapixel camera. The rear shell of the device has a quad camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel sensor, and a pair of 2-megapixel sensors. The device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery.

Realme 5i pricing and availability

The Realme 5i is listed for registrations on the retailer site with a price tag of VND 4,290,000 (~Rs 13,200). The colour editions of the Realme 5i are Blue and Green.

Since the specifications of the Realme 5i are identical to the Realme 5, the newly spotted phone is unlikely to come to India. Realme did not launch the Realme 5 phone in Vietnam. However, it has been selling the Realme 5s in the country. Hence, it appears that the Realme 5i could be positioned lower than the Realme 5s phone in Vietnamese market. The handset is also expected to release in some other Southeast Asian markets like Singapore.
