Realme has been on a launch spree in India of late. A couple of months ago, the company refreshed its budget line-up with the launch of the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro smartphones. Most recently, the phone maker launched its 64MP main camera-toting handset dubbed as the Realme XT. Now, the brand seems to be planning to release a new budget smartphone in the Realme 5 lineup in the near future, which could arrive as the Realme 5s. While the company hasn’t yet confirmed the existence of the device, it has been certified by two regulatory authority agencies – one in India and another in Thailand.
The upcoming Realme 5s has bagged approval from Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) certification agency. The regulatory authority has certified the Realme 5s under the model number RMB1925. In India, the same device has received certification from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which suggests that the Realme 5s India launch could take place in the coming weeks.
Realme 5s specifications and features
Unfortunately, both the NBTC and BIS certifications of the Realme 5s haven’t revealed anything about the specifications and features of the smartphone. However, speculations suggest that the phone could be a less powerful variant of the Realme 5, and it could be aimed towards those looking for an entry-level device. There’s also a possibility that the Realme 5s will sit between the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro.
Talking about the Realme 5, it is one of the most affordable smartphones in India to flaunt a quad-camera setup at the rear. The handset has a 12MP ultra-wide angle primary lens, which is accompanied by an 8MP wide-angle camera. There’s also a 2MP portrait sensor and a 2MP macro shooter at the rear.
The Realme 5 is being offered in India in three RAM and storage cofigurations – 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB, and 4GB + 128GB. The base variant is priced at Rs 8,999, while the 64GB and 128GB models are being offered for Rs 9,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively.
