Realme 6i with Helio G80 to go official on March 17th

Just last week, Realme had launched the Realme 6 (review) and Realme 6 Pro (review) smartphones in India. Recent reports have revealed that the Chinese manufacturer is also gearing up to launch a phone named Realme 6i. The handset, that has a model number RMX2040, have been spotted at multiple certification platforms like FCC in the U.S, EEC in Russia, SIRIM in Malaysia, NBTC in Thailand and IMDA in Singapore. It has been also certified by India’s BIS agency which indicates that it will be landing in India too. An official confirmation has now come from the Myanmar wing of Realme, revealing that the Realme 6i will debuting on March 17th.

The official poster by Realme Myanmar confirms that the Realme 6i will be the world’s first smartphone powered by the Helio G80 chipset. As the name suggests, the SoC is less powerful than the Helio G90T which powers the Realme 6.

Realme 6i March 17 launch date

The all-new MediaTek SoC was announced last month. The 12nm octa-core chipset includes two Cortex-A75 cores working at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores ticking at 1.8GHz. The SoC includes Mali-G52 graphics. The HyperEngine Game technology brings gaming capabilities to phones that are powered with Helio G80.

Realme is yet to reveal the specifications of the smartphone. The FCC appearance of the smartphone had revealed that it will be sporting a quad camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary lens on its back. The Realme 6i will be equipped with a waterdrop notch screen. At present, there is no word on the size of its screen.

The upcoming Realme 6i was recently spotted at Geekbench as well. At that time, its processor was mistakenly identified as Helio G70. The Geekbench appearance revealed that the phone will be equipped with 4GB of RAM. The Android 10 OS that will come preloaded on the device could be overlaid with the latest edition of Realme UI.

The Realme 6i will be backed with a massive battery of 5,000mAh capacity. The phone has a USB-C port and could come with an 18W fast charger. The handset measures 164.5 x 75.5 x 9mm and weighs 195 grams. With only a few days remaining for the launch, the rumour mill is expected to reveal more information on its specs in the coming days. In related news, the Realme 6 series will be made official in Europe on March 24th.
