Realme 7 Pro vs OPPO F17 Pro vs POCO X2: price in India, specifications and features compared

Less than six months after its launch, Realme has announced the successor to the Realme 6 Pro in India in the form of the Realme 7 Pro. The new launch retains a few specs from its predecessor, but upgrades to an AMOLED panel, in-display fingerprint scanner, 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 sensor and 65W SuperDart Charge fast charging technology.

These upgrades have resulted in Realme pricing the 7 Pro higher than its predecessor. While Realme 6 Pro was priced at Rs 16,999 for the base variant, Realme 7 Pro starts at Rs 19,999. At this price point, the Realme 7 Pro has two formidable contenders in the form of the POCO X2 (first impressions) and OPPO F17 Pro. Let’s find out how they fare against each other.

Realme 7 Pro vs OPPO F17 Pro vs POCO X2: price in India

The Realme 7 Pro comes in two configurations – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB with a price tag of Rs 19,999 and Rs 21,999 respectively. The phone will go on sale at 12pm on September 14th on Flipkart and realme.com. Realme has announced that the device will soon be made available in retail stores as well. The Realme 7 Pro is offered in Mirror White and Mirror Blue colours.

The POCO X2 offers more options with 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants priced at Rs 17,499, Rs 18,499 and Rs 20,999, respectively. Of these, only the first two are currently listed on Flipkart. The colour options include Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple and Phoenix Red.

The OPPO F17 Pro is being offered in a single variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone has been priced at Rs 22,990 and will go on sale in India starting September 7th. The phone is being offered in Magic Blue, Matte Black and Metallic White colour options.

The Realme 7 Pro and the OPPO F17 Pro are the ones with a standard 60Hz refresh rate here, but both offer 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panels. The Super AMOLED panel offers better colour accuracy, sharpness and viewing angles. The POCO X2, on the other hand, features a larger 6.67-inch screen with FHD+resolution, but with a higher 120Hz refresh rate.

While the Super AMOLED display on Realme and OPPO phones make for a quality viewing experience, the 120Hz refresh rate on POCO X2 elevates the overall experience by facilitating smoother animations and transitions.

Realme 7 Pro vs OPPO F17 Pro vs POCO X2: performance and software

Coming to the performance, the Realme 7 Pro and POCO X2 are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G and Snapdragon 730G, respectively, both based on the 8nm process. Both these chipsets are neck and neck when it comes to performance according to numerous benchmark comparisons online. The OPPO F17 Pro misses out in this round as it’s powered by MediaTek’s Helio P95 SoC manufactured using the 12nm process.

All three smartphones boot Android 10 out of the box. While the Realme 7 Pro gets Realme UI on top, the OPPO F17 Pro features ColorOS 7.2. The POCO X2 gets MIUI 11 with a custom POCO launcher on top.

It therefore boils down to the configurations being offered by the Realme 7 Pro and POCO X2. With three configuration options on offer, POCO X2 bags this round.

The Realme 7 Pro and POCO X2 are both equipped with a 64-megapixel quad-camera on the back. However, the Realme 7 Pro has the Sony IMX682 sensor as its primary lens and POCO X2 has Sony IMX686.

The former has an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, 2MP BnW unit and a 2MP macro shooter backing the primary camera. The POCO X2 has an 8-megapixel 119-degree wide camera, 2-megapixel macro lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. Coming to the OPPO F17 Pro, the smartphone features a 48-megapixel f/1.8 main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, 2-megapixel portrait lens and another 2-megapixel mono sensor.

The OPPO F17 Pro and POCO X2 both have dual selfie camera cutouts on the front, whereas the Realme 7 Pro features a single camera cutout. The F17 Pro and POCO X2 have 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel and 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup, respectively. The Realme 7 Pro, on the other hand, features a powerful 32-megapixel selfie camera.

The POCO X2 and Realme 7 Pro draw power from a 4,500mAh battery. However, while the former offers 27W fast charging, the latter comes with the best-in-class 65W fast charging technology. The OPPO F17 Pro has a smaller 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging.

The POCO X2 with its 120Hz display, commendable performance and more configurations emerges victorious overall and is also cheapest of the lot. The Realme 7 Pro is for those who want a vibrant display, but don’t mind compromising on a high refresh rate. However, it offers good performance with its Snapdragon 720G processor, and is the only phone to offer 65W fast charging under Rs 20,000 in India.
