Realme 8s and 8i have joined Realme’s 8-series of affordable smartphones in India. The brand has been hyping up these two smartphones on its social channels for a while now. Realme had already confirmed the processors, display details, and variants of the smartphones on its social handles as well the dedicated microsite on Flipkart. The Realme 8s is the world’s first Dimensity 810 phone, whereas the Realme 8i is India’s first phone featuring the Helio G96 chipset. Apart from the smartphones, Realme has launched its debut Android tablet called the Realme Pad at the same event. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest Realme smartphones.

Realme 8s and 8i: launch date

The Realme 8s 5G and 8i launched in India on September 9th at 12.30pm. The brand live-streamed the whole event for the fans on its YouTube channel and social media handles.

Realme 8s and 8i: price in India

The Realme 8s is available in two configurations starting at Rs 17,999. It’s available on realme.com and Flipkart in Universal Blue and Universal Purple colours.

The Realme 8i also comes in two RAM and storage variants and can be purchased in Space Black and Space Purple hues.

Realme 8s and 8i: sale date in India

Realme has announced that Realme 8s will go on sale starting September 13th, whereas the 8i will be available from September 14th. The first sale for both will start at 12 noon on realme.com and Flipkart. HDFC and ICICI Bank customers will be able to avail Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 discount on Realme 8s and Realme 8i respectively on credit card and EMI transactions.

As mentioned before, Realme has been teasing the key specifications of both Realme 8s and 8i lately. The company has already confirmed several details of the upcoming phones. Let’s take a look.

Mediatek Dimensity 810 5G and Helio G96 SoC

Realme 8s comes with the latest MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC. This makes the smartphone the world’s first to come with the Dimensity 810. The processor comes with dual 5G SIM support, support for 120Hz displays, MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 gaming technology, and up to 64MP cameras with AI features.

On the other hand, the Realme 8i is India’s first MediaTek Helio G96 smartphone. This is a 4G chipset with support for 120Hz displays, MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 gaming technolog, and 108MP camera.

5GB Dynamic RAM Expansion

The new Realme smartphones come with 5GB of Dynamic RAM expansion that will assist in launching apps quickly. The Realme 8s will be offered in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. The Realme 8i comes in 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB configurations.

Punch-hole display

Realme 8i comes with a 6.6-inch FHD+ LCD display featuring 6 levels of refresh rate. These will include 30Hz for static, 48Hz for movies, 50Hz for TV play, 60Hz/90Hz for gaming, and 90Hz/120Hz for streaming content. The Realme 8i, on the other hand, features a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display with 90Hz refresh rate.

Fingerprint scanner

Realme has also confirmed that both smartphones will come with side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Realme 8s and 8i other specifications and features (expected)

The Realme 8s features an‘ Infinite Star’ design, and will be available in blue and silver colours. The smartphone is 8.8mm thin and weighs 191g. It has a 64-megapixel primary camera on the rear panel backed by a 2MP BnW shooter and a 2MP macro camera. On the front, there’s a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone boots Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 and features a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

As for the Realme 8i, the smartphone has 50-megapixel primary camera on the back accompanied by the same 2-megapixel sensors and a 16-megapixel front camera. Other features include a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, and Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.
