[Exclusive] Realme A1 To Soon Launch As Company’s Next Budget Android Smartphone

Realme launched its first U-series smartphone in India last month, dubbed Realme U1. The Oppo-spinoff brand may soon launch another all-new smartphone series aimed at the budget smartphone segment. We have received some new information from a trusted source, which suggests Realme’s next budget smartphone could launch as the Realme A1.

Realme A1 Budget Android Smartphone May Debut Soon

Realme currently offers three budget Android smartphones: Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro, and the Realme U1. According to our source, the Realme A1 will be positioned below the Realme U1 in the company’s lineup. Since the Realme U1 starts at Rs.11,999 in India, we can expect the Realme A1 to be priced closer to the Rs.10,000 mark. Unfortunately, we have no information regarding the hardware specifications of the upcoming Realme smartphone currently. For now, we can only confirm that the smartphone will be available in Black and Yellow color options at launch.

Realme’s first U series smartphone, the U1 features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a Dewdrop notch and 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution. We can expect the Realme A1 to feature a similar Dewdrop notch display as the Realme U1. Under the hood, Realme U1 runs on a MediaTek Helio P70 12nm octa-core processor. Since the Realme A1 is tipped to be more affordable than the Realme U1, we can expect it to be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 or a Snapdragon 600-series chipset under the hood. We can also expect to see a dual-camera setup at the rear and an impressive selfie snapper on the front with AI-powered beautification features. In terms of software, the Realme A1 is expected to launch with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 out of the box. The smartphone is expected to be launched sometime in the first quarter of 2019. Just like other smartphones released by Realme so far, the Realme A1 is likely to be launched in India before making its way to other markets.
