Realme announces its global 5G event at MWC 2020, Realme X50 5G expected

On: January 23, 2020

This year, the annual Mobile World Congress in Barcelona will be held from February 24th to 27th. Today, Realme has announced that it will hold a global 5G launch event on February 24th at MWC 2020. The Chinese smartphone maker had launched the Realme X50 5G in its home country earlier this month. Last year, only a few smartphones with 5G support were launched, and most of them were flagship devices. However, the new Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765 processors come with an integrated modem that enables 5G connectivity. With this, 5G connectivity is expected to gain increasing traction in the market this year.

Realme’s event description states that “Realme will host the first global launch event in 2020. In the 5G era, realme will be dedicated to be the popularizer of cutting-edge technology, promoting the popularity of 5G networks worldwide and bringing new 5G phones with power and style to global users.” Chances are that the brand may launch a 5G smartphone at the tech trade show. The X50 5G is the company’s only 5G capable device. The smartphone could be rebranded for international markets. The Realme X50 5G will be the cheapest 5G smartphones if launched globally.
