Realme fitness band might launch in first half of 2020, teases Madhav Sheth

Popular smartphone manufacturer Realme is on cloud 9, having reached the top tier in sales volume. Formed back in May 2018, Realme is the 7th largest smartphone manufacturer globally, recording a massive 808% YoY sales in 2019. Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has bigger plans for 2020 and wants to expand the business beyond the boundaries of smartphone manufacturing. Realme’s future lies in tech-lifestyle and the company plans to disrupt every segment of the market, just like it has done with the segment between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 20,000. One of the major new products that the company plans to launch in the first half of 2020 is the Realme fitness band. The arrival of Realme fitness band was confirmed by Sheth in Episode 13 of the Ask Madhav series. The series revolves around popular questions from fans that the CEO answers through direct videos. In episode 13, at runtime 2:05, Madhav reveals that Realme is working on Realme fitness band and it might debut in the first half of 2020. More details on the fitness band are expected to surface in the beginning months of the coming year.

The company plans to launch an entire ecosystem with smartphones at the centre. “We are working to introduce an entire lineup of IoT products in India. However, we will not launch products just for the sake of it. Our entire lineup is designed around the needs of the user, and we design our products accordingly,” Sheth added. Realme plans to offer stiff competition to established brands like Xiaomi, and have already announced a 108-megapixel camera on its next smartphone to rival the likes of the Xiaomi Mi Note 10.

In related news, Realme recently unveiled the Bud Air truly wireless earbuds in India with a price tag of Rs. 3,999. The wireless earbuds is only available on Realme’s website and Flipkart. It can be bought in colours such as white, yellow and black colour options. Realme claims the Air Buds offer up to 17 hours of music playback on a single charge. The earbuds can be wirelessly charged using the 10W wireless charger. The device also sports quick charging through its USB-C port. It features Bluetooth v5.0 and a custom Ri chip that helps establish an instant connection between the earbuds and smartphones.  

The Air Buds feature a range of touch-sensitive control. There is a Gaming Mode onboard that reduces latency by up to 51% and optimizes video playback and gaming experience. Its other features include 12mm dynamic drive for enhanced bass, Google Assistant support, Environment Noise Cancelation (ENC) for filtering background noise.
