Realme GT 2 series has been launched in China. The lineup includes two models such as Realme GT 2 5G and Realme GT 2 Pro 5G. The major highlights of the former include a 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, a large battery, and 50-megapixel triple rear cameras.
On the other side, the GT 2 Pro is Realme’s most premium flagship phone that features a QHD+ AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, and a big battery. The GT 2 Pro is the world’s first smartphone to feature a 150-degree ultrawide camera. The GT 2 and GT 2 Pro are the company’s first smartphones to feature a camera with OIS (optical image stabilisation) support.
Realme GT 2, GT 2 Pro specifications and features
The Realme GT 2 features a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole design. It delivers a Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The Realme GT 2 Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED LTPO punch-hole display with ultra-thin bezels. It offers a Quad HD+ resolution of 1,440 x 3,216 pixels. Both smartphones carry support for 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate, 1,400 nits of brightness, 1.07 billion colours, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The GT 2 gets Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the screen, while the Pro model is fitted with the latest Gorilla Glass Victus.
The Realme GT 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 888 mobile platform, whereas the GT 2 Pro is driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Both models offer up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Both devices have a 5,000mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.
The GT 2 has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera, while the Pro model gets a 32-megapixel camera for shooting selfies and video calls. The GT 2’s back panel features an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera, which is coupled with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with a 119-degree FOV and a 2-megapixel macro camera.
On the other hand, the Realme GT 2 Pro’s rear camera setup includes a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera with OIS support, which is coupled with a 50-megapixel superwide lens with an industry-first 150-degree FOV. The GT 2 Pro is the industry’s first smartphone to carry support for the fisheye mode that can be used for capturing extremely wide-angle shots for creative photography. Its camera setup also includes a 2-megapixel microscope camera, which can capture closer shots with finer details.
The GT 2 duo runs on Android 12 OS, which is overlaid with Realme UI 3.0. Both phones offer other features like dual SIM support, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and dual speakers.
Realme GT 2, GT 2 Pro pricing and availability
The Realme GT 2 has arrived in three variants such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage in China. These models are priced at RMB 2,699 (~Rs 31,700), RMB 2,899 (~Rs 34,100), and RMB 3,199 (~Rs 37,600), respectively.
The GT 2 Pro variants include 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. They are priced at RMB 3,899 (~Rs 45,700), RMB 4,199 (~Rs 49,200), RMB 4,499 (~Rs 52,700), and RMB 4,999 (~Rs 58,550), respectively.
The GT 2 duo come in colours like Titanium Blue, Forged Black, White, and Green. The latter two are Master Edition versions. The first sales of both smartphones will be carried out on January 7th, 2022, in China. While it is unclear whether Realme has any plans to launch the GT 2 in India, the Pro model is expected to debut in Q1 2022 in the country.
