Realme GT 2 and Realme GT 2 Pro smartphones have been unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022 tech exhibition. To recall, the GT 2 series was first announced in January in China. Today, the company has unveiled it for the European markets. The event also saw the arrival of the world’s first 100W to 200W UltraDart fast charging technology, Realme Book Prime notebook, and Realme Buds Air 3 TWS earbuds.

The Realme GT 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 888, whereas the GT 2 Pro is a premium flagship driven by the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. Both phones are equipped with stellar specs such as a 120Hz AMOLED display, 50-megapixel triple cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging.

Realme GT 2 features a 120Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 888

The Realme GT 2 has a 6.62-inch AMOLED screen that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5. It has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera and a 50-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit.

On the other side, the GT 2 Pro has a 6.7-inch LPTO 2.0 AMOLED display that offers a Quad HD+ resolution of 1,440 x 3,216 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The GT 2 Pro has a 32-megapixel selfie snapper and a 50-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 50-megapixel (150-degree ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (microscope) triple camera unit.

Realme GT 2 Pro features a QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1

The Realme GT 2 has the SD888 chip, 8GB / 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered GT 2 Pro has 8GB / 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Both phones come with other common features such as a 5,000mAh battery with 65W fast charging, an under-display fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, and Android 12 OS with Realme UI 3.0 on top. The company has confirmed that the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro users will be treated with three years of Android OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates.

Realme achieves 280% growth in 2021 in Europe

According to Counterpoint Research, Realme’s smartphone shipments increased six times in 2020 in Europe. The growth of Realme also helped the European smartphone market recover after being impacted by the pandemic. In 2021, Realme became the fastest growing major smartphone brand in Europe. The success of its GT lineup and number series allowed Realme to achieve 280 percent annual growth in 2021. In addition, it has also managed to rank itself as a top five vendor in 2021 in Europe. Hence, it appears that the newly unveiled Realme GT 2 series will further assist the brand to boost its sales further in Europe.

The Realme GT 2 has arrived in Europe in two options such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage. They are priced at €449 (~Rs 37,850) and €599 (~$50,500), respectively. The GT 2 Pro is priced at €649 (~Rs 37,850) for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and €749 (~$63,150) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage edition in Europe. The handset comes in three colours such as Paper White, Paper Green, and Steel Black.
