Realme GT 2 series launch finally happened in China with GT 2 and GT 2 Pro announced. The former is the successor to the Realme GT 5G, which debuted back in August this year. Whereas, the GT 2 Pro is Realme’s most premium flagship phone and the world’s first smartphone to feature a 150-degree ultrawide camera.

Realme GT 2 series launch date in India

The Realme GT 2 series launch event was held in China with the first sale scheduled on January 7th, 2022. While there’s no word on whether the standard Realme GT 2 will launch in India, the GT 2 Pro is expected to arrive in Q1 2022 in India.

At present, there is no information available on the pricing of the Realme GT 2 series. The GT 2 starts at RMB 2,699 (~Rs 31,700) and the Pro variant retails from RMB 3,899 (~Rs 45,700). The Realme GT was introduced with a price tag of Rs 37,999. Hence, it is likely that its successor may arrive with a sub-Rs 40,000 pricing. The GT 2 Pro, which is expected to pack premium features, may carry a costlier price tag.

Realme GT 2 features a 120Hz AMOLED display and Snapdragon 888

The Realme GT 2 houses a 6.62-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution, whereas the GT 2 Pro comes with a larger 6.7-inch AMOLED panel that produces a Quad HD+ resolution. Both models offer support for 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The GT 2 and GT 2 Pro both have a punch-hole design. As far as rear design is concerned, the GT 2 duo sport a design similar to the Realme GT Neo 2. The Realme GT 2 Pro looks different from the leaked renders that appeared last month. The previous renders had shown the phone sporting a horizontal camera strip like the older Google Nexus 6P smartphone.

The Realme GT 2 has a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX766) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit. The GT 2 Pro is equipped with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. On the back, the Pro variant has an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 lens, a 50-megapixel ultrawide snapper with the industry-first FOV of 150-degree, and a 2-megapixel microscope camera for capturing close-up shots of smaller objects.

The vanilla variant is equipped with Snapdragon 888 and the GT 2 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. Both models run on Android 12 OS, with Realme UI 3.0 on top.
