To those who don’t know, 240W is the maximum charging output supported via a USB Type-C port. Realme uses a three-way 100W charge pump parallel design to achieve a full charge using its 240W charger. It offers a charging conversion efficiency of 98.5 percent.

The new charging solution uses a 240W dual GaN mini charging adaptor to achieve the highest power density of 2.34W / CC in the industry. The 240W charger is just 5 percent larger in size as compared to the existing 150W charging. It features a single USB-C interface. The 240W SuperVOOC charger is compatible with charging protocols like 65W PD, QC, and VOOC.

The Realme GT Neo 5, which will be the first to offer 240W charging, will come equipped with 13 built-in temperature sensors. In addition, it has the industry’s largest 56580mm² graphene phase change heat dissipation system. The other safety features onboard include a P3 fire protection design and a real-time safety monitoring system.

According to Realme, after conducting 1,600 full charging cycles (0 to 100 percent) with the Realme 240W fast charger, the effective health of the battery did not go down below 80 percent. The company carried 3,200 simulated charging and discharging scenarios in real-life scenarios, and the device did not encounter any kind of issue. Also, charging at 85C high temperature and 85% high humidity with 21 days of charging and discharging did not lead to any safety failure.

Realme GT Neo 5 launch timeframe

The company confirmed today that the Realme GT Neo 5 would launch in February in China. Speculations are rife that the device will come in two battery variants. The one with a 4,600mAh battery may support 240W charging, while its 5,000mAh variant may offer 150W charging.

Reports have claimed that the Realme GT Neo 5 will have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display that offers a 1.5K resolution, a refresh rate of 144Hz, and 2160Hz PWM dimming. It will have a 16-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX890, with OIS) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit. It will run on the Realme UI 4.0-based Android 13 OS. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered phone will come with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will offer other features like an under-display fingerprint scanner and RGB lights.
