Realme has launched its next-generation Narzo series smartphones in India today. The line-up includes the successors to the Narzo 10 (review) and Narzo 10A (review) called the Narzo 20 and Narzo 20A. This year, the brand has also announced a third model in the series called the Realme Narzo 20 Pro. As the name of the device suggests, the Narzo 20 Pro is the top-of-the-line model in the Realme Narzo 20 series.

Realme has aggressively priced the Narzo 20 Pro at Rs 14,999 for the base variant. At this price, the Narzo 20 Pro competes with brand’s own Realme 7, which is priced identically and has specifications to match as well. Another tough contender for the new launch is the Redmi Note 9 Pro, which retails at a lower starting price and also has good specs to offer. Let’s find out how these three smartphones stack up against each other.

The Realme Narzo 20 Pro is being offered in 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB options in India. These variants are priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999, respectively. The smartphone is available in White Knight and Black Ninja colours. It can be picked up from Realme.com, Flipkart and retail stores, starting September 25th.

The Realme 7 is also available in 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB configurations priced at Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999, respectively.  The device can be picked up in Mist White and Mist Blue colours. The smartphone is available on Flipkart and realme.com.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro also offers similar storage configurations but with less RAM. Its base variant features 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and is priced at Rs 13,999. The top-end variant is priced at Rs 16,999 and offers 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. The handset is available in Aurora Blue, Glacier White and Interstellar Black colours.

The Realme Narzo 20 Pro’s window to the world is a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The screen has a punch-hole cutout and is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The highlight of the display is the 90Hz refresh rate. The Realme 7 is also equipped with a 90Hz IPS LCD display measuring 6.5-inches. The screen has FHD+ resolution and the Corning Gorilla Glass layer for protection.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro, on the other hand, features a larger a 6.67-inch screen with FHD+ resolution and the layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. However, it misses out on the ultra-smooth 90Hz refresh rate and features the standard 60Hz panel.

The Realme 7 was the world’s first smartphone to be powered by the 12nm, octa-core MediaTek Helio G95 gaming processor. The Narzo 20 Pro also features the same processor. Moreover, as mentioned before, both these smartphones are also being offered in identical configurations – 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro, on the other hand, is powered by the more power efficient 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. It shares the same storage variants – 64GB and 128GB as the other two but with 4GB and 6GB RAM, respectively.

Coming to the software, the Realme Narzo 20 Pro and Realme 7 boot Android 10 out of the box with the Realme UI interface on the top. The Redmi Note 9 Pro features Android 10 as well but with MIUI 11 on top.

The Realme Narzo 20 Pro, Realme 7 and Redmi Note 9 Pro, all three smartphones have a quad-camera module in common. The Narzo 20 Pro features a 48MP main sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP BnW portrait shooter and a 2MP macro unit. The Redmi Note 9 Pro also has a 48MP primary camera backed by an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and 2MP depth sensor. However, instead of 2MP macro lens, there’s a higher resolution 5MP macro lens.

The Realme 7 wins this round with its 64MP quad-camera setup on the back. However, apart from the primary lens, it has the same camera setup as the Narzo 20 Pro.

In the selfie department, Realme Narzo 20 Pro, Realme 7 and Redmi Note 9 Pro are all fitted with a 16-megapixel cameras in the punch-hole cutout on the front.

The Realme 7 and Redmi Note 9 Pro are equipped with a 5,000mAh and 5,020mAh battery, respectively. While the former supports 30W fast charging, the latter features 18W charging. The Realme Narzo 20 Pro has a smaller 4,500mAh battery but is the most affordable smartphone to offer 65W SuperDart charging.

It’s pretty clear that the main battle here is between the two Realme offerings, which are identical on several aspects including price. While the Narzo 20 Pro gets an edge in terms of fast charging, the Realme 7 has a higher resolution primary camera on the back. In the end, it all boils down to the preference of the user.
