Realme ‘Quicksilver’ launch confirmed, will be the first Snapdragon 778G 5G smartphone

Realme has confirmed that its upcoming smartphone codenamed ‘Quicksilver’ will launch soon. It will be the first smartphone to feature the latest Snapdragon 778G 5G processor. The announcement from the brand comes soon after chipmaker Qualcomm announced the new SoC.

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth said in a statement ‘This is a milestone both for realme and our users. realme is working towards being a democratizer of next-gen 5G technology unlocking the potential of 5G to deliver exciting new experiences for consumers globally. The chipset will improve the performance of smartphones and will provide advanced gaming capabilities.”

Realme hasn’t revealed the actual name of the upcoming smartphone or its launch timeline. However the brand has teased it as coming soon, so we can expect the device to launch sometime in the future in India. Realme says that the Snapdragon 778G 5G will offer an unrivalled experience enhanced by the unprecedented speeds of 5G. The brand also revealed that the upcoming smartphone will come with a GT mode and a new cooling system.  

Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G specifications 

The newly announced Snapdragon 778G 5G is an octa-core processor built on a 6nm architecture. It is paired with an Adreno 642L GPU onboard offering a 40 percent graphics improvement over its previous generation chipset. The chipset is equipped with a Snapdragon X53 modem with support for mmWave and sub-6 5G networks. 

The Snapdragon 778G 5G is said to support up to FHD+ displays, HDR10+ and 144Hz refresh rate. It will also let smartphones capture photos from wide, ultra-wide and telephoto cameras simultaneously. 

The Snapdragon 778G 5G is expected to be a mid-range chipset and power smartphones from Xiaomi, Honor, OPPO, Realme, Motorola in the coming months.
