Realme to launch 55-inch TV in India soon, CEO Madhav Sheth confirms

Realme recently made its debut in the TV industry with the launch of the Realme TV in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes. The smart TVs run Android TV OS, and feature inbuilt Chromecast and Google Assistant support. Priced at Rs 12,999 and Rs 21,999 respectively, these TVs have been priced to compete with offerings from Xiaomi, Kodak and others.

Now it appears that Realme is set to launch more premium TVs in India. The company’s CEO Madhav Sheth revealed this information in an interview with IANS. However, the company has not many revealed any other details as of now.

Speaking to IANS, Sheth confirmed that the Realme is planning to launch a 55-inch Realme TV in India. According to the CEO, the brand has only recently started exploring the TV market in the country and won’t stop at just two sizes. Sheth mentioned that the 55-inch segment is considered to be premium in India, and that’s why the company is planning to enter this space.

Sheth also announced that Realme will start manufacturing its TVs in India once the COVID-19 situation improves. In related news, Sheth recently announced on Twitter that over 15,000 units of Realme TV were sold in less than 10 minutes in its first sale on both Flipkart and Realme.com. Apparently, this is the fastest sale ever in the TV category on Flipkart.

Realme TV specifications and features

To recap, the Realme TV 32-inch and 43-inch models feature HD and full HD resolution, respectively. The displays offer up to 400 nits of brightness and come with the Chroma Boost picture engine, which Realme claims can enhance the overall picture quality and improve brightness, colour, contrast and clarity. Ticking at the core is a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek processor with a new Mali-470 MP3 GPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage.

The TV operates on Android TV (Android 9), and comes with Google Assistant baked in. For audio, the television offers two sets of speakers located at the bottom, with one full-range speaker and one tweeter each with a total output of 24W. Other features include Chromecast, pre-installed OTT apps, remote control with hotkeys, and more.

Connectivity-wise, both models offer 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Infrared, DLNA, Bluetooth 5.0, three HDMI ports, two USB ports, SPDIF, DVB-T2 (Digital TVinterface), and Ethernet.
