Realme set to announce its first TV at MWC 2020

MWC is still a few weeks away, and brands are prepping to debut their new products at the tech show. Last month, smartphone maker Realme had announced that it will hold a global 5G launch event on February 24th at MWC. Now, answering a user’s question on Twitter, Realme CMO Francis Wang teased the announcement of a smart TV at MWC. This means that the brand is set to foray into the television market this month. Wang hasn’t revealed any more details about the TV. However, answering another question, he said that the Realme smartwatch and fitness band will arrive even before the TV.

Previously, smartphone makers like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola and Nokia have entered into India’s television market. Realme has been quite successful in smartphones in a short period of time. Now the brand seems to be eyeing the TV segment. Wang’s tweet makes the arrival of the Realme TV certain. Last year, 91mobiles had reported that the Realme TV would be launched by the year-end, but it didn’t happen. As of now, it’s unknown what plans Realme has in the pipeline regarding its first television. We expect the Realme TV to be priced aggressively to take on other brands. Alongside Realme, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is also expected to launch its Vision TV in India by the end of this quarter.

Apart from the TV, Wang also suggested that Realme laptops could be considered based on the performance of Realme TV in the market. We expect more information to crop up about the Realme TV in the coming weeks.

In other news, Realme is set to launch the Realme C3 in India on February 6th, while the company’s first fitness band is slated to arrive later this month.
