Realme U1 With 25MP Selfie Camera And Dewdrop Notch Launched In India

At an event held in New Delhi today, Realme has launched a smartphone under its new U-series range, The device is called the Realme U1 and is being targeted at selfie enthusiasts. Let’s take a look at the detailed specifications, pricing and availability of the device:

Display & Design:

On the front, the Realme U1 features a FHD+ display measuring 6.3-inches. It is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The device features a dewdrop notch which allows for a screen-to-body ratio of over 90 percent. There is a physical fingerprint scanner located at the back and face unlock is available as well. The Realme U1 is available in three colour options – Ambitious Black, Brave Blue and Gold.


The Realme U1 sports dual rear cameras comprising of a 13MP primary camera and 2MP depth sensor. In the front, the device is fitted with a 25MP camera featuring a Sony IMX 576 sensor for selfie enthusiasts. Both the front and rear camera offer AI driven features for enhancing the pictures. The front camera doubles up as AI face unlock for additional security. The rear camera offers Portrait mode with studio lighting effects. The device also features slow-motion video recording at 960fps. 

Hardware, Battery & OS:

In terms of hardware, the Realme U1 is the first smartphone to be powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. It is paired with an ARM G72 GPU onboard and offers game mode for uninterrupted gaming experience. The device is available in two RAM configurations of 3GB and 4GB. With respect to storage, the 3GB variant packs 32GB storage and the 4GB RAM model offers 64GB internal memory. There is a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.

The Realme U1 draws its power from a 3,500mAh battery unit. On the software front, the Realme U1 runs ColorOS 5.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Pricing & Availability:

Realme has priced the base variant of U1 at Rs 11,999. The 4GB/64GB version retails at Rs 14,499. The device is an Amazon exclusive and will go on sale starting December 5th. SBI users are eligible for 5 percent cashback on purchasing the device.  Jio users can avail benefits worth Rs 5,750 and up to 4.2TB 4G data.

Realme also announced two cases in Black and Yellow colours with a wrist strap for better grip. The company also launched Realme Buds with kevlar fiber cord. Both the accessories are available separately for Rs 499.
