Realme X and Pro series phones will receive two major Android updates

Back in November last year, Realme had announced its Android 10 roadmap. In the recent #AskMadhav episode, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth said that Realme smartphones will receive at least one major Android update and security patches for two years. However, this created confusion among users who took to Twitter to confirm which smartphones will get the Android 11 update. Realme CMO Francis Wang clarified that the Realme 1, C1 and U1 will get one major update. He confirmed that the X-series and Pro-series will receive two major Android updates. There are three and four devices in the Realme Pro and Realme X lineup respectively.

The Realme X series consists of the Realme X, Realme XT, Realme X2 and Realme X2 Pro. The Realme XT is already receiving the Android 10 update, while the Realme X is scheduled to get the software update in February. The Realme X2 and X2 Pro will receive the Android 10 update in March 2020. All the above-mentioned phones are also confirmed to receive the Android 11 update as well. 

In another query, Wang responded that two major Android updates are confirmed for the Pro series. This means that the Realme 2 Pro, Realme 3 Pro, and Realme 5 Pro will receive the Android 11 update. According to the roadmap, Realme 3 Pro users have started receiving Android 10 update. The Realme 5 Pro will be updated to Android 10 next month, while the Realme 2 Pro will get the update in June later this year. 

As for the rest of the phones, the Realme 3 and 3i are scheduled to get Android 10 update in April. The Realme 5, 5i and 5s will receive will be updated to the latest OS version in May. Lastly, the Realme C2 will get the update in Q3 this year. 

In other news, the Realme X2 Pro has received the latest ColorOS update with build number RMX193EX_11_A.09.  The update brings the January Android security patch as well as VoWiFi support for Reliance Jio and Airtel users. The update is being rolled out to users in India via an OTA, and is 3.1GB in size.
