Realme X3 with 60x zoom and ‘Starry Mode’ teased in India, launch expected soon

On: May 8, 2020

Realme introduced the X2 (review) and X2 Pro (review) in the last quarter of 2019. These smartphones flaunt 64-megapixel quad cameras, FHD+ displays, and in-display fingerprint scanners among others as their highlights. Now, the brand seems to be working on the next generation X-series smartphones, starting with the Realme X3.

Realme CEO Madhav Sheth took to Twitter today to tease the zooming capability of the Realme X3 through a night sky image. It would be safe to assume that the Realme X3 is the next in line from the brand in the Indian smartphone market. However, no solid timeline has been revealed for the launch.

Realme X3 launching in India soon

Sheth shared an image allegedly captured using the upcoming Realme X3, showcasing the zooming capability of the smartphone. The watermark on the image reads, “Shot on Realme X3 SuperZoom 60X.” We can see the stars in the Milky Way captured, presumably using a combination of the 60x zoom and long exposure.

Sheth captioned the image, “Announcing realme’s next leap in camera technology with 60x Zoom & Starry Mode on #realmeX3. I urge you to take the #realmeSuperZoom challenge and try clicking a better pic than this with your smartphone. RT and reply using #realmeX3.

Based on this tweet, we can safely assume that the Realme X3 might launch in the country in the near future. The 60X zoom and Starry Night mode appears to be similar to 100x Space Zoom feature on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Realme X3 specifications and features

The Realme X3 SuperZoom was recently spotted on the popular benchmarking website, Geekbench with model number RMX2086. The same phone has also been spotted on Thailand’s NBTC, BIS certification platform of India, and EEC authority in Russia.

The listings have revealed that the phone will feature a Qualcomm octa-core processor with  ‘msmnile’ codename, which suggests Snapdragon 855 or Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. The smartphone will feature up to 12GB RAM and boot Android 10. Another leak has revealed that the phone will come with a 4,200mAh battery and support for 30W fast charging.

Unfortunately, not much else is known about the smartphone at this point.
