During the launch event of the Realme X2 Pro in China last month, Realme had confirmed that it will be the first brand to launch a smartphone with Qualcomm’s new 5G integrated chipset. Today, Realme China CMO Xu Qi released a confirmation through a Weibo post that the Realme X50 5G will be debuting soon as its first 5G phone in its home market.
The Weibo post by Xu Qi carries a poster that reveals that the Realme X50 5G phone will arrive with Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G network support in China. The poster reveals that the device will be equipped with a pill-shaped cutout on the top-left corner of the display with dual punch hole cameras. This indicates that the Realme X50 5G will be arriving as a worthy rival for the upcoming Redmi K30 5G that is confirmed to arrive with a similar display design.
Nothing is known on the specifications of the Realme X50 5G smartphone. Considering the fact that the company has now started teasing its arrival, there is possibility that it may go official in December in China. Qualcomm’s 5G modem integrated SoC has not debuted yet. The US based chipset maker will be holding its annual Snapdragon Tech Summit event between December 3rd and 5th. The flagship Snapdragon 865 mobile platform is expected to be announced at the event.
Qualcomm is also expected to announce the 5G ready Snapdragon 735 mobile platform for mid-range phones. Reports that surfaced few months ago had claimed that the Realme’s first 5G phone could be driven by a Snapdragon 700 series SoC. This suggests that the Realme X50 5G could be powered by Snapdragon 735 SoC and there could be a Pro model of the phone featuring the more advanced Snapdragon 865 chipset. Readers are advised to wait for further reports to confirm on the processor and other specs of the Realme X50 5G.
Last week, the Realme X2 Pro smartphone was made official in India. At the event, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth confirmed that the company will be among the first brands to ship Qualcomm integrated 5G phones in 2020. 5G networks are not ready for commercial in India. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Realme will bring the X50 or some other phone as its 5G first phone for the country.
