MediaTek has released a couple of Dimensity chipsets to power 5G smartphones across different price points this year. Currently, the Dimensity powered phones are mainly available in China. In an interview with Tech Radar, MediaTek India Managing Director Anku Jain revealed that Dimensity powered phones will be releasing in India next year.
While Jain did not explicitly mention anything on the Realme X7 series, recent reports suggest that it will break cover in India in December. Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India had said in a recent tweet that he is “personally involved in defining many interesting products including some of the latest 5G smartphones like X7 series and new AIOT items that are very much expected by Realme fans”.
The Realme X7 5G and Realme X7 Pro 5G phones have both received approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). This approval indicates that these phones may launch soon in India. Moreover, popular tipster Mukul Sharma had recently claimed that he came to know from his source that the Realme X7 series will launch in India in December.
Realme X7 5G and Realme X7 Pro 5G specifications and features
The Realme X7 5G has a 6.4-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with support for 60Hz refresh rate. The X7 Pro 5G comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Both phones have punch-hole displays that are integrated with fingerprint sensors. The Dimensity 800U powers the X7, while the Dimensity 1000+ is present under the hood of the Pro model.
These phones are backed by 4,300mAh and 4,500mAh batteries, respectively. Both phones also support 65W SuperDart fast charging technology. The Realme X7 Pro 5G has a 32-megapixel front-facing and its rear camera setup includes a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel macro shooter and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The Realme X7 has the same camera setup at the front as well as rear, but the only exception is that the 64-megapixel primary rear camera uses a Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor. While the Realme X7 series is expected to arrive next month, Tech Radar’s report reveals that the next phone with Dimensity chipset will be available in India in 2021.
Talking about 5G’s arrival in India, Jain said that country already has 5G-ready phones and it is now up to the government to make sure all hurdles in the way of 5G spectrum auction are removed quickly for seamless availability of 5G across the country.
