Realme X7 series confirmed to launch in India in 2021, more 5G phones to follow

Recently we reported that the Realme X7 series could launch next year. Now, Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has confirmed on Twitter that the brand will launch its upcoming 5G offerings i.e the Realme X7 series in 2021. He also hinted at bringing 5G technology to more Realme devices next year.

The Realme X50 Pro 5G (review) was the first smartphone with support for 5G connectivity in India. The upcoming X7 series will be the second 5G offering from the brand and is tipped to be priced affordably. 

The Realme X7 and X7 Pro already debuted in China in September this year. In India, the smartphones will also mark the entry of MediaTek’s Dimensity-powered chipsets. There is no word on the exact launch timeline of the Realme X7 series but we can expect it to be in the first few months of 2021.

The Realme X7 and X7 Pro are affordable 5G smartphones

The Realme X7 series isn’t the successor to Realme X2 and X3 series. The X7 and X7 Pro are completely new smartphones with 6.5-inch punch-hole AMOLED displays bearing an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The devices come with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and a rectangular camera module. The smartphones flaunt a gradient back panel with the company’s  ‘Dare to Leap’ tagline in bold letters. 

The Realme X7 and X7 Pro sport a quad-camera setup comprising of a 64MP main sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP BnW unit and a 2MP macro shooter. Both devices feature a 32MP selfie snapper. 

The standard Realme X7 is powered by a Dimensity 800U processor while the Pro variant houses a Dimensity 1000+ SoC. Both smartphones support 5G connectivity and are offered with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The standard X7 is backed by a 4,300mAh battery unit while the latter runs on a 4,500mAh battery. The Realme X7 series supports 65W VOOC fast charging and comes with dual-SIM 5G, WiFi 6, Type-C port and dual-frequency GPS. 

The Realme X7 series starts at RMB 1,799 (~Rs 19,200) for the base variant while the X7 Pro starts at RMB 2,199 (~Rs 23,500).
