Realme and Xiaomi to launch phones with the new Snapdragon 720G chipset

Earlier today, at an event in India, the chipset maker Qualcomm introduced its latest processors called the Snapdragon 720G, Snapdragon 662, and Snapdragon 460. All of the new SoCs bring premier-tier features to affordable phones. At the launch event, both Realme and Xiaomi announced plans to launch smartphones with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor. Unfortunately, the Chinese smartphone manufacturers have not revealed which devices will utilise the Snapdragon 720G processor. However, we can expect these smartphones to be affordable offerings. We can expect the phone makers to shed more light on these products in the near future.

Xiaomi and Realme will be launching the Snapdragon 720G processor-powered phones

As for the new Snapdragon 720G processor, Qualcomm says that it will provide fast 4G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6 support, and integrated Bluetooth 5.1. These technologies on the SoC will be enabled by Qualcomm’s FastConnect 6-series subsystems. Qualcomm mentioned that the Snapdragon 720G will provide a superior gaming experience, thanks to Snapdragon Elite Gaming features. Notably, these features are currently available on the chipset maker’s premier processors. The company says that the new SoC will offer HDR gameplay, dynamic colour range and contrast, and immersive gaming environments. The chipset also has Qualcomm aptX Adaptive features, which provides more synchronised sound during gaming.

Talking about the other features, the Snapdragon 720G SoC has the Qualcomm Spectra 350L ISP to provide super-smooth video streaming as well as HDR viewing. The phones which will have this chipset will be capable of shooting 4K videos as well as 192MP resolution images. Notably, the Snapdragon 720G has the new Snapdragon X15 LTE modem, which will enable support for download speeds up to 800Mbps. Lastly, the processor has the Adreno 618 GPU, support for full HD+ displays, and Quick Charge 4.0.

At the event, Qualcomm mentioned that consumers can expect Snapdragon 720G-powered devices within this quarter. So we can expect some products from Xiaomi and Realme this quarter.
