Realme India is gearing up to launch a 64-megapixel quad rear camera phone that will be called Realme XT. Madhav Sheth, CEO for Realme India confirmed its existence at the launch event of the Realme 5 series. The company had earlier teased the 64-megapixel camera technology in India, without revealing additional information. The Realme XT will use Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1 64-megapixel sensor. With the new hardware in place, the Realme XT will be able to capture images with greater detail and color accuracy even in low-light conditions.
According to Samsung, “GW1 uses Dual Conversion Gain (DCG), which converts the light received from the surrounding environment into electrical signals. This allows the sensor to better utilize its full well capacity (FWC), using the collected light efficiently in bright surroundings”. The GW1 sensor is also equipped with 4-in-1 pixel-merging TetraCell technology for shooting 16-megapixel shots in dim-light conditions.
The Realme XT will be arriving as an enhanced version of the Realme X that went official in the country in the previous month. The above image of the Realme XT does not show a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, hinting at an in-display fingerprint scanner. This automatically confirms the presence of an AMOLED display. The XT could be powered by a processor that is more powerful than Snapdragon 710 that fuels Realme X. It could be arriving with a bigger battery.
Realme had earlier hinted at a pre-Diwali launch. Hence, the smartphone is expected to go official by the end of September. Sheth also teased a September launch by referring to the lyrics of “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”
