Realme XT to start receiving Realme UI based on Android 10 starting January 17th

Earlier this month, Realme announced that it will soon start rolling out the Android 10-based Realme UI to its smartphone as early as this month. The brand had announced that the Realme XT and Realme 3 Pro will be the first phones to receive the latest update latest by this month. Now, a new announcement from the brand states that the Realme XT (review) will start receiving the update from January 17th. The update will be pushed over the air (OTA) and users can go to the Software Update section in the Settings to check if they have received the same. Since OTA updates are usually rolled out in a phased manner, some may get it later than others.

Realme UI based on ColorOS 7 comes with new customizations and features

The Realme UI is based on the latest Android 10 update with several optimisations borrowed from ColorOS 7. The new interface features nature-inspired colour schemes along with customisable internal graphics. Moving away from the visuals, Realme has announced that the new interface will feature higher screen frequency, OPPO’s Quantum Animation Engine and Focus Mode (much like OnePlus’ Zen Mode). Apart from that, there will be new gestures like a three-finger slide down screenshot functionality, Personal Information Protection, and more.

Realme has announced that the XT and 3 Pro will be joined by the Realme X (review) and Realme 5 Pro (review) in February 2020. In March, the update will be rolled out to the Realme X2 (review) and Realme X2 Pro (review), while Realme 3, and Realme 3i (review) will join the club in April. The much successful Realme 5 series including Realme 5 (review), Realme 5i (first impressions) and Realme 5s will get the Realme UI in May. The Realme 2 Pro and Realme C2 (review) will be the last to receive it in June and Q3 2020, respectively.

To recall, the Realme XT comes with a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 layer on top. The screen is also fitted with an integrated fingerprint scanner. Powering the smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 octa-core processor accompanied by 4GB, 6GB and 8GB RAM depending upon the variant. Realme is offering the handset with either 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. In the camera department, you get 64Mp + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP setup on the back and a 16MP shooter on the front. Lastly, ColorOS 6.0.1 based on Android 9 Pie and a 4,000mAh battery unit with support for 20W VOOC 3.0 flash charging technology completes the spec sheet.

The Realme XT is currently retailing in India for  Rs 14,999, Rs 15,999 and Rs 17,999, respectively for 4GB, 6GB and 8GB variants.
