Realme XT to feature in-display fingerprint scanner and Snapdragon 712

At the launch event of Realme 5 Series, the company had announced that its 64MP quad-camera phone called the Realme XT would debut in September. The smartphone would be the first from the brand to feature a 64MP camera, a technology Realme showcased earlier this month

The 64MP camera on the Realme XT will make use of Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. It uses pixel-binning technology to stitch four 16MP shots together for a bright and detailed photo. The device will also be an industry-first quad-camera phone with a 64MP main sensor. Alongside the main sensor, the camera setup is expected to consist of an ultra-wide-angle lens, a depth sensor, and a super macro camera. Commenting on the Realme XT, Madhav Sheth, CEO, Realme India said, ‘Realme has always been the industry pioneer and we are proud to reveal yet another ‘first’ in bringing the world’s first 64MP quad-camera experience.

Realme has also announced a few key specs of the upcoming smartphone. Design-wise, the Realme XT closely resembles the recently launched Realme 5 Pro. The device features a dewdrop notch display with a Super AMOLED panel and is claimed to offer a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Realme XT flaunts a 3D glass back panel with a hyperbola curve design. It houses a protruding vertical camera setup on the top left corner. Both the front and back is fitted with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against accidental damage and scratches. The Realme XT will be equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It will likely sport a 6.4-inch screen bearing a full HD+ resolution.

Under the hood, the Realme XT will be powered by a Snapdragon 712 chipset which is the same as the Realme 5 Pro. The phone draws its power from a 4,000mAh battery unit with support for 20W VOOC 3.0 flash charging. The Realme XT will be offered in RAM and storage configurations up to 8GB and 128GB respectively.

The Realme XT is scheduled to launch before Diwali, so we expect the smartphone to debut by the end of September. In other news, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is expected to launch its first 64MP smartphone dubbed as the Redmi Note 8 Pro in China tomorrow. However, the company hasn’t revealed the India launch timeline for the same.
