Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing revealed on Weibo earlier today that the company plans to launch a new smartphone alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro in China on March 18. Weibing has now shared a launch poster on his Weibo account, confirming that it is indeed the Redmi 7 that will be launching in China at the launch event in Beijing next week.
Redmi 7 to Debut in China Next Week
Apart from confirming the smartphone’s launch date in China, the poster also gives us a good look at the Redmi 7’s design. The budget Android smartphone will feature a dual-camera setup on the back with an LED flash module positioned below it. We can also see a circular fingerprint sensor module on the back of the phone. Moving over to the front, we can see the Redmi 7 has a waterdrop notch at the top of the display, similar to the Redmi 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphones.
Thanks to the smartphone’s listing on the TENAA website, most of its key specifications have been confirmed already. It will have a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with 720 x 1520 HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. A recent hands-on video had revealed the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 octa-core processor under the hood. In terms of memory, the Redmi 7 will be available in three different configurations in China: 2GB RAM + 16GB storage, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. On the back of the handset will be a dual-camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary sensor. Apart from a significantly larger display and a more powerful chipset compared to its predecessor, the Redmi 7 will also pack an impressive 4000mAh capacity battery. On the software front, it will be running on Android Pie-based MIUI 10 out of the box.
