Xiaomi’s newest Redmi A series smartphone, the Redmi 8A, is now available via major brick and mortar stores across the country. So far, the phone was being offered from e-commerce portals including Mi.com and Flipkart. Until Diwali, the Redmi 8A will be offered at the same price as its online counterparts in offline stores. After Diwali, the smartphone’s price in brick and mortar stores will increase by Rs 300. The phone is available offline for Rs 6,499 for the base 2GB RAM variant and for Rs 6,999 for the 3GB RAM model. The Redmi 8A was originally launched a few weeks ago as the successor to the Redmi 7A.
Redmi 8A specifications and features
The Redmi 8A features a waterdrop notch above the screen and P2i rating for dust and splash resistance. The smartphone boots the Android 9 Pie-based MIUI ROM out of the box. The handset has been equipped with face unlock functionality for security, instead of a fingerprint sensor. The phone has a 6.22-inch display bearing HD+ resolution. Under the hood, there’s an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor, which is aided by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage.
In the imaging department, the Redmi 8A features a 12-megapixel Sony IMX 363 camera at the rear, which has 1.4-micron pixel size and AI features to enhance the captured images. In the front, the smartphone has an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. In terms of connectivity, the Redmi 8A comes with 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port, and A-GPS. A massive 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support completes the list of the specifications of the smartphone.
