Redmi 9 specifications and features
The Redmi 9 arrives as the successor to last year’s Redmi 8, and packs significant upgrades. The Indian variant is expected to share the same specifications as its global counterpart. The Redmi 9 features a 6.53-inch waterdrop notch display bearing FHD+ resolution. The smartphone sports a Redmi K30-like rear camera design with a vertical arrangement inside a circular module. The back panel also houses a conventional fingerprint scanner.
The Redmi 9’s quad-camera setup comprises a 13MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, 5MP macro shooter and 2MP depth sensor. The device features an 8MP front-facing camera.
The Redmi 9 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor. It is paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The device is backed by a massive 5,020mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging via USB-C port. The smartphone runs MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box.
Redmi 9 pricing and availability
The Redmi 9 carries a starting price tag of €139 (~Rs 12,000) . The Redmi 8 currently retails at Rs 9,499 so we expect the upcoming smartphone to be priced slightly higher than its predecessor. We will learn about the details next week at the launch event. The Redmi 9 is available in Carbon Gray, Sunset Purple and Ocean Green colours internationally.
