A few days ago, we had reported that Xiaomi is working on the Redmi 9 series. The lineup is expected to consist of four smartphones including Redmi 9, 9A, and 9C (NFC and non-NFC variant). The full spec sheet, as well as the pricing of these smartphones, was leaked, courtesy of Twitter tipster Sudhanshu.
Now, a live image of the Redmi 9 has been spotted on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. It gives us a first look at the upcoming device. The leaked image reveals that the smartphone will feature a Redmi K30-like back panel and arrive in Teal Green and Violet colours.
Redmi 9 appears in live images
As seen in the leaked image, the Redmi 9 will sport a vertically-aligned camera setup inside a circular module. The camera sensor placement is also similar to the Redmi Note 8 Pro, with the fourth snapper (likely a 2MP sensor) placed above the flash on the right side. There is also a physical fingerprint scanner below the camera setup. The Teal Green variant reveals 13MP quad-camera text beside the setup. The power and volume buttons are located on the right side. Apart from this, the live image doesn’t reveal anything else about the Redmi 9.
The Weibo post claims that the Redmi 9 will be powered by MediaTek Helio G80 processor instead of the G70 in the previously leaked spec sheet. However, rest of the specifications are in line with the latest report.
The Redmi 9 is expected to feature a 6.53-inch screen bearing FHD+ resolution and a quad camera setup of 13MP, 8MP, 5MP, and 2MP sensors. The processor will be paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The smartphone is tipped to be powered by a 5,000mAh battery and retain the 18W fast charging support from the Redmi 8.
Redmi 9 pricing and availability
The Redmi 9 is tipped to be launched on June 25th. It is expected to be priced below Rs 15,000 at launch.
