The Redmi 9 Power will be the fifth device in the Redmi 9 lineup after the Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, Redmi 9i and Redmi 9A. Previous reports have claimed that the Redmi 9 Power could arrive as a rebranded version of the Redmi Note 9 4G that was launched in China last month.

In his tweet, Manu mentions the Redmi 9 Power as the brand’s first power smartphone in India. The dedicated event page reveals a triple rear camera setup, powerful battery, a Snapdragon processor, hi-res audio support, and power-packed storage. The Redmi 9 Power is also confirmed to arrive in four colour options i.e. Black, Blue, Orange and Green.

Redmi 9 Power expected specifications and features

The teasers don’t reveal the exact specifications and features of the upcoming Redmi 9 Power. However, if past reports about the smartphone being Redmi Note 9 4G sold in China are true, then the device could retain the same specifications.

The Redmi Note 9 4G features a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch and FHD+ resolution. The smartphone sports a rectangular camera module at the top left corner housing a 48MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP depth shooter. The device offers an 8MP front-facing selfie camera. There is a vertical ‘Redmi’ branding on the back panel at the bottom. The power button doubles up as a fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi Note 9 4G is powered by a Snapdragon 662 SoC paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB native storage with a dedicated microSD card slot. The smartphone is backed by a massive 6,000mAh battery unit with 18W fast charging. It runs on MIUI 12-based Android 10 out of the box. In China, the Redmi Note 9 4G starts at RMB 999 (~Rs 11,300) for the base variant.
