Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi teased the launch of a wireless audio product in India last week. At the time, it was speculated to be either a Bluetooth speaker or true wireless earphones. Now, Redmi has announced the launch of the TWS earphones in India on May 26th. The company has shared a launch poster on Twitter, which gives us a glimpse at the device. The earphones could be either the Redmi AirDots or AirDots S.

The Redmi AirDots were launched in China last year. They feature an in-ear design, unlike Xiaomi’s recently launched Mi True Wireless Earphones 2.

While the brand has not confirmed the name of the product or any specifications yet, the official website has a dedicated event page revealing a few key details. According to the page, the Redmi TWS earphones will come with a beefy battery that will last for hours. The page also reveals that the earphones will be protected against sweat, which means we can expect some kind of IP rating.
Additionally, Redmi’s TWS earbuds will feature low-latency to improve the gaming experience. Lastly, the page confirms that the Redmi earbuds will come with an integrated voice assistant for voice commands.
As for the Redmi AirDots launched in China last year, the earbuds feature a touch-sensitive button for music playback, 7.2mm dynamic drivers and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. The earphones are rated to last up to four hours on a single charge. Other features include environmental noise cancellation and a charging case that provides up to 12 hours of battery life.

The Redmi AirDots were launched in China for RMB 99.99 (~Rs 1,100) and we can expect similar pricing in India as well. The launch event is just a few days away and we should have more details soon.
