Redmi Go price in India dropped, now starts at Rs 4,299

Xiaomi has dropped the price of its most affordable smartphone, the Redmi Go, in India. The phone’s price has been permanently dropped in the country by up to Rs 300. The handset’s base variant with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of native storage is now available for just Rs 4,299, down from the launch price of Rs 4,499. The Redmi Go’s model with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory is now being offered for Rs 4,499, down from the original price of Rs 4,799. The Redmi Go is available at the reduced prices from, Flipkart, Amazon, and major brick and mortar stores across the country.

Redmi Go specifications and features

To recap, the Redmi Go was launched in the Indian market in March last year. The device arrived as the Chinese tech giant’s first smartphone to utilise the lightweight Android Go operating system. The device comes with Go versions of popular Google apps like Gmail, Maps, Files Go, and Google Assistant, which is available in over seven Indian languages. As for the other features, the phone comes with a polycarbonate unibody design and the old 18:9 aspect ratio.

Moving on to the other specs, the Redmi Go is equipped with a 5-inch display bearing a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, the smartphone has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, which offers a maximum clock speed of 1.4GHz. The chipset is accompanied by the Adreno 308 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and up to 16GB of storage. Unfortunately, the handset doesn’t offer a fingerprint sensor for security.

In the camera department, the Redmi Go offers an 8-megapixel primary camera with an aperture of f/2.0, a single LED flash, autofocus, and HDR. For selfies and video calling, the device is equipped with a 5-megapixel snapper with f/2.2 aperture. The connectivity features, the phone offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, dual-SIM slots, Bluetooth, and GPS. A 3,000mAh battery completes the list of the specifications of the Redmi Go.
