Redmi recently began teasing the launch of its first flagship device. Redmi’s first products as an independent brand have been immensely successful, so we have high expectations from the upcoming flagship device. Two weeks back, Redmi released a short video on Weibo confirming the smartphone will have a pop-up selfie camera. The brand today officially confirmed that its upcoming flagship Android smartphone will be called the Redmi K20.
Redmi K20 Expected to Launch in China Soon
The Redmi K20 will be making its global debut at an event in China soon. However, Redmi has not confirmed any specific launch date yet. Still, it is highly likely that the launch event will take place sometime before the end of the month. In addition to the Redmi K20, the company is expected to launch another flagship-grade smartphone dubbed K20 Pro at the event. Redmi’s first notebook, dubbed RedmiBook 14 is also expected to be launched alongside the K20 and K20 Pro flagship smartphones.
In another post on Weibo, the Xiaomi sub-brand claimed the Redmi K20 is going to be a flagship killer and that the K in its name standards for Killer. Since Redmi is describing the K20 as a “flagship killer”, there is a strong chance that it might be priced lower than any other Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone launched so far. Some rumors claim the K20 or K20 Pro could be launched as the POCO F2 in the Indian market. The POCO F1 was the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone released last year and managed to disrupt the mid-range smartphone market in India and a few other markets.
The Pro variant of the Redmi K20 is expected to come with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display featuring an optical In-display fingerprint sensor and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. In the camera department, it is rumored to come equipped with a 48MP + 8MP + 16MP triple-camera setup on the back. Fueling the flagship phone will be a 4000mAh non-removable battery with 27W fast charging support.
