After month of leaks,Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi K20 series of flagship devices in China. The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro smartphones offer full screen displays and pop-up front-facing cameras. These handsets are packed with top-notch specs and have hit the Chinese markets with affordable price tags.
Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro Specifications and Features
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro resemble each other in terms of design and some specifications. The 3D curved glass bodied Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are fitted with 6.39-inch full HD+ AMOLED displays. Since there is no notch on the display, the front camera is made available through pop-up module on the top edge of both devices.
The displays of these smartphones are equipped with in-display fingerprint scanner, eye protection mode and DC dimming. The Redmi K20 duo offer a 91.9 percent screen-to-body ratio, and the thickness of the chin on both devices is only 3.8mm.
The 8nm Snapdragon 730 chipset powers the Redmi K20. On the other side, the 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset fuels the Pro model. These phones are equipped with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. Unfortunately, there is no support for expandable storage on both devices. The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro are backed by a 4,000mAh battery. The K20 supports 18W rapid charging, whereas the K20 Pro offers faster 27W charging. MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie comes loaded on the Redmi K20 series. The Game Turbo 2.0 feature accelerates the CPU and GPU performance while gaming. An optional custom gamepad worth 179 Yuan will be also available for Redmi K20 duo users.
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro smartphone feature same selfie cameras and triple rear cameras. There is a 20-megapixel pop-up selfie snapper that can shoot wide-angle shots. The rear-facing triple camera module includes 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor that is assisted by a 13-megapixel superwide sensor and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The Redmi K20 has a 48-megapixel Sony IMX582 as the main sensor its triple camera setup.
The photography features available on the Redmi K20 series include AI face recognition, AI scene detection, AI studio light effects, handheld super night scene mode and 960 fps slow-motion video shooting. The other common features on the Redmi K20 duo are dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-frequency GPS technology, NFC, USB-C, Hi-Res audio and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro Price and Release Date
The Redmi K20 comes in two models – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. They are priced at 1,999 Yuan (~Rs 20,200) and 2,099 Yuan (~Rs 21,200) respectively.
The Redmi K20 Pro variants include 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. These models are priced at 2,499 Yuan (~Rs 25,200), 2,599 Yuan (~Rs 26,200), 2,799 Yuan (~Rs 28,200) and 2,999 Yuan (~Rs 30,200) respectively.
The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro will be up for pre-orders in China starting from 6pm today. The sales of the K20 will start on June 1st and the K20 Pro will be available for purchase from June 10th. Apart from Carbon Black, these phones will be available in Glacier Blue and Flame Red gradient colour options. The phones are expected to launch in India soon.
