Smartphone manufacturers are equipping their devices with the next generation of 5G connectivity. 5G aims to offer fast mobile data speeds compared to its predecessor (4G). Smartphones with 5G connectivity are already available in countries like South Korea, the US, and China. India is expected to be the next market in rolling out the 5G network. According to a source, Xiaomi’s Redmi K30 5G has bagged BIS certification in the country. This hints that the smartphone may arrive as the first 5G device in the near future. The BIS listing on January 9 reveals the Redmi K30 5G with model number ‘M2001G7AI’. To recall, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi K30 5G in China in December last year.

The Redmi K30 5G sports a 6.67-inch LCD display bearing a full HD+ resolution. It offers a 120Hz refresh rate panel for smooth transitions. The display features a pill-shaped punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The device comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button. The Redmi K30 flaunts a glass back panel with vertically stacked quad-cameras in a circular module. It consists of a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor, an 8MP wide-angle-lens, 5MP macro, and 2MP depth shooter. The front cameras comprise of a 20MP+2MP snappers.
Under the hood, the Redmi K30 is powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor paired with Adreno 620 GPU onboard. The device is offered in different configurations w.r.t RAM and storage up to 8GB and 256GB respectively. The smartphone draws its power from a 4,500mAh battery unit with support for 30W fast charging. The Redmi K30 offers the latest 5G connectivity with 12-antenna design claimed to house 2.4 times higher number of antennas compared to 4G handsets. Other connectivity options include 4G LTE, Type-C, 3.5mm jack, NFC, Infrared sensor and GPS.
The price of Redmi K30 5G starts at RMB 1,999 (~Rs 20,144) for the base variant and goes up to RMB 2,899 (~Rs 29,200) for the higher configuration. We will know about the India launch and pricing in the coming weeks.
