Redmi K30 could be rebranded as a POCO smartphone in India

In December 2019, Xiaomi launched the 4G and 5G versions of the Redmi K30 smartphones in China. The model numbers of the Redmi K30 4G for China are M1912G7BE and M1912G7BC. The Redmi K30 5G has model numbers M2001G7AC and M2001G7AE. Last week, a Redmi phone with model number M2001G7AI was spotted at the database of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Now, a POCO branded phone with model number M1912G7BI has bagged approval from the BIS authority in India. The same model number had appeared on BIS in December as a Redmi device. Hence, the new BIS listing suggests that the Redmi K30 4G phone will be rebranded as a POCO device in India.

Since the M1912G7BI and M2001G7AI Xiaomi phones have been recently certified in India, both phones could be heading to India soon. At present, it appears that the M2001G7AI phone could be heading to India as a 4G version of the Redmi K30 5G, as the country is not 5G-ready yet.

Redmi K30 (M1912G7BI) is certified by BIS authority in India

The M1912G7BI was previously seen as a Redmi device, but the same model number has been moved to the POCO section on BIS. Hence, it could be a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G.

Recently, Xiaomi India confirmed that POCO has become an independent brand and it will be launching multiple products this year. A recent leak revealed that the year 2020 will see as many as three POCO phones and one of them could be the POCO F2 Lite. It is expected to arrive in India with specs like the Snapdragon 765 mobile platform, 6GB of RAM, 5,000mAh battery and Android 10.

In the recent past, the POCO X2 phone had surfaced on Geekbench benchmarking platform with specs like a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon processor, 8GB of RAM and Android 10. There is a possibility that either the POCO F2 Lite or POCO X2 could be a rebranded version of the Redmi K30 4G in India.

Xiaomi had recently trademarked a phone with the POCO F2 moniker. It could be the next flagship phone from the POCO brand. It could arrive as the cheapest Snapdragon 855 or 855+ SoC powered smartphone. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know more on the upcoming POCO phones.
