The Redmi K30i has been popping up on the internet through various leaks and rumours for a while now. The handset was rumoured to be a more affordable variant of the Redmi K30 5G, which was launched in December 2019. Reports suggested that the Redmi K30i could be the most affordable variant in the Redmi K30 series and will be different from the standard Redmi K30 4G variant as well.
The Xiaomi sub-brand has now quietly launched the Redmi K30i in its home market of China. The smartphone seems to share its design with the K30 series phones, but features a 48MP primary camera at the back instead of 64MP sensor. The toned-down variant retains the 120Hz refresh rate, which is the highlight of the latest launch.
Redmi K30i specifications and features
The Redmi K30i ships with a 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display features HDR10 support and a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for protection against scratches and nicks. Powering the handset is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G chipset, which is accompanied by 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. In the software department, the smartphone boots MIUI 11 based on Android 10. For security, the phone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Coming to the cameras on the phone, the Redmi K30i 5G ships with a quad-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera is a 48-megapixel f/1.79 unit, accompanies by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, 2-megapixel depth sensor and 5-megapixel macro sensor. In the front, the phone has dual punch-hole cutout housing a 20-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel depth sensor.
Under the hood, the Redmi K30i 5G features a 4,500mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. On the connectivity front, the device offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual-frequency GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, dual-SIM and 3.5mm audio jack.
Redmi K30i price and availability
Redmi is offering the K30i 5G smartphone in blue, red, purple, and white colours. The smartphone has been listed for pre-order with a price tag of RMB 1,999 (~Rs 21,300) and will go on sale starting June 2nd in China. There’s no word on the global availability of the smartphone yet.
