The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition series of smartphones have launched in China. It has arrived as the first hardcore gaming phone from the brand. It joins the existing K40 series, which includes Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+.

The K40 Game Enhanced Edition offers users a 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED display. For gamers, it comes with features like gaming trigger buttons, a largre heat dissipation unit, stereo speakers, and a large-sized battery.

The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition features a 120Hz AMOLED display and Dimensity 1200 chip

The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a punch-hole cutout. It offers Full HD+ resolution, a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 1,300nits peak brightness, HDR10+, a 120Hz refresh rate and 480Hz touch sampling rate. The screen features Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and rear.

The Dimensity 1200 chipset powers the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition with up to 12GB of enhanced LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone is backed by a 5,065mAh battery that supports 67W rapid charging and USB PD 3.0. The 67W charger can fully charge the phone in just 42 minutes. Despite housing a huge battery, the phone maintains a slim profile of 8.3mm.

For an immersive gaming experience, the K40 Game Enhanced Edition features mechanical gaming shoulder buttons like the Black Shark 4 series. It is equipped with a massive 11540mm² heat dissipation system to ensure that the phone does not heat up during intensive gaming.  For an enriched gaming experience, the smartphone features JBL powered dual speakers and it features an X-linear motor for in-game vibrations.

The Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition has a 16MP front camera. The rear camera module of the phone which has RGB light at its edges features a Sony IMX686 64-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.89 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree FOV, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The handset offers photography features like portrait beauty, super night scene, video HDR, time-lapse photography, video beauty, film filter, dual camera mode, 1080p slow-motion video recording, and 720p slow-motion video shooting.

The K40 Game Enhanced Edition runs MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. The device offers other features like dual-SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, IR blaster, USB Type-C, Dolby Atmos support, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition pricing and availability

The Redmi K40 Game Edition comes in multiple variant such as 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, 12GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage are priced at RMB 1,999 (~Rs 23,000), RMB 2,199 (~Rs 25,300), RMB 2,399 (~Rs 27,600), RMB 2,399 (~Rs 27,600), and RMB 2,699 (~Rs 31,000), respectively. Its fist sale will be carried out on April 30th in China. The phone will be available in colours like Dark Shadow (Black), Silver Wing (Silver), and Light Blade (White).

At the event, the company also announced a Bruce Lee Special Edition of the phone, which comes in a custom gift box package. This model has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and it is priced at RMB 2,799 (~Rs 32,200). Reports have claimed that the K40 Game Enhanced Edition will be heading to India as a POCO branded device.
