- Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is launching on April 27th in China
- It is a gaming-focused phone powered by the Dimensity 1200
- A lower version with Dimensity 1100 is also expected to launch alongside it
The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is now confirmed to launch on April 27th in China. It will be the country’s fourth K40 series phone after Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+ smartphones, which were made official in February.
Today, the company took its Weibo account to confirm that it will be powered by the 6nm Dimensity 1200 chipset. Other sources suggest that there could be a lower variant of the phone driven by the less powerful Dimensity 1100 chipset. Both handsets are likely to break cover together in the coming week.
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition to come in Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 versions
Popular tipster Digital Chat Station claimed earlier this week that the M2012K10C and M2104K10AC phones that have recently received 3C certifications are the two variants of the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition smartphone. The listings revealed that both devices may arrive with support for 67W rapid charging.
The M2104K10AC variant has appeared on the Chinese benchmarking platform Master Lu with the Dimensity 1100 chipset. Hence, it suggests that the M2012K10C phone could be the model with the Dimensity 1200 chipset. The Master Lu listing revealed that the M2104K10AC phone’s display supports 1,080 x 2,400 pixels resolution, and it includes 8 GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage.
As far as the Dimensity 1200 variant is concerned, Redmi has revealed that it recorded a flagship-level score of 724,495 on AnTuTu benchmarks. The company also revealed that it has a large 11,540mm2 VC liquid cooling chamber for heat dissipation. Redmi claims that the K40 Gaming Edition will be a hardcore gaming phone with an attractive design. For an enhanced gaming experience, the smartphone will offer users mechanical gaming shoulder buttons like the Black Shark 4 series of smartphones.
The official poster also revealed that it has a triple camera system. Rumours have it will be equipped with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 primary camera, a 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, and a 5,000mAh battery. It is speculated to cost around RMB 2,000 (~Rs 23,300).
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition may arrive as POCO branded phone in India
The M2014K10I model was spotted with POCO branding at the IMEI database listing of India recently. Hence, it is being speculated that the Redmi K40 Gaming Edition may break cover as a much-awaited F-series POCO phone in the country.
