Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi held an event in China to announce three flagship phones namely, the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+. While the Redmi K40 is driven by the Snapdragon 870 chipset, the K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ are equipped with the more powerful Snapdragon 888 mobile platform.

The Redmi K40 series feature high refresh rate displays, large batteries with fast charging and powerful triple rear cameras as their highlights.

The Xiaomi Redmi K40 has a 6.67-inch Samsung E4 AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 360Hz touch sampling rate, MEMC frame-rate compensation, HDR10+ and a peak brightness of 1,300 nits.The screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass 5.

It features a 20-megapixel selfie camera. Its rear triple camera system includes a Sony IMX582 48-megapixel primary camera with f/1.79 aperture, a 119-degree 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 5-megapixel telephoto macro lens.

The Snapdragon 870 drives the Redmi K40 with up to 12GB of LPPDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Its 4,520mAh battery is coupled with 33W fast charging support. It takes 52 minutes to charge the battery completely.

Redmi K40 Pro, Redmi K40 Pro+ specifications and features

The Redmi K40 Pro and Redmi K40 Pro Plus feature the same 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz display that can be found on the vanilla model. The Snapdragon 888 mobile platform is at the helm of both handsets with enhanced LPPDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage choices. The K40 Pro duo are packed with 4,520mAh batteries that support 33W fast charging.

Both smartphones are fitted with 20-megapixel front-facing cameras. The Redmi K40 Pro’s rear-facing triple camera system comprises a 64-megapixel main camera with f/1.89 aperture, a 119-degree 8-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 5-megapixel macro telephoto lens. On the other hand, the Redmi K40 Pro+ features a 108-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HM2 lens with f/1.75 aperture as primary, with the other two cameras carried over from the K40 Pro.

The Redmi K40, K40 Pro, and K40 Pro+ all feature MIUI 12 based on Android 11, dual-SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 / 5.2, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, X-liner motor for in-game vibrations, IR blaster, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support, side-mounted fingerprint scanners and USB Type-C.

Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro pricing and availability

The Redmi K40 comes in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage, and 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variants, priced at RMB 1,999 (~Rs 22,500), RMB 2,199 (~Rs 24,800), RMB 2,499 (~Rs 28,100), and RMB 2,699 (~Rs 30,300) respectively.

The Redmi K40 Pro 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants are priced at RMB 2,799 (~Rs 31,500), RMB 2,999 (~Rs 33,800), and RMB 3,299 (~Rs 37,100) respectively.

The Redmi K40 Pro+ comes in a single version featuring 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and is priced at RMB 3,699 (~Rs 41,600).

All three K40 series phone come in colours like black, blue, and white.
