Redmi K50i 5G is scheduled to debut in India on July 20th, 2022. The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro that debuted in 2019 received a good reception from critics and users. However, the company did not release its successor models in the country.

Finally, the upcoming K50i 5G will bring back the K-series to India. Rumours are rife that the K50i lineup may include two devices, such as the K50i (a 4G device) and the K50i 5G. At present, nothing is known about the specifications of the 4G variant. However, the rumour mill has revealed almost everything about the 5G edition.

The Redmi K50i 5G is expected to arrive in two variants. Its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage edition is expected to cost Rs 26,999, while its 8GB RAM + 256GB storage edition is expected to cost Rs 31,999. It will arrive in three colours: Phantom Blue, Stealth Black, and Quick Silver.

The K50i 5G is likely to go on sale on July 22nd, 2022. It will be sold through Mi.com, Amazon India, and retail stores. HDFC bank card users may have a chance to purchase the K50i 5G at a discounted price.

The Redmi K50i 5G will not be an affordable flagship like the K20 series. However, it will be an upper mid-range phone. In May, Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 11T Pro 5G in China. Last month, a rebranded version of the phone with the POCO X4 GT moniker in the global market. Rumours are rife that the K50i 5G will also be a rebadged edition of China’s Note 11T Pro 5G.

The Redmi K50i 5G will arrive with a 6.55-inch IPS LCD screen with a centrally positioned punch-hole. It will offer a Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,460 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20.5:9, a high refresh rate of 144Hz, a touch sampling rate of 270Hz, and a maximum brightness of 650 nits. It will come with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

The rear side of the phone has a triple camera unit. The power button located on its right spine is integrated with a fingerprint sensor. The device will also offer IP53 dust and splash resistance.

For selfies, the Redmi K50i 5G will feature a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Its back panel will have a 64-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree FOV, a 2-megapixel macro snapper, and an LED flash.

The Redmi K50i 5G will draw power from the Dimensity 8100 chipset. It will arrive with 6GB / 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The official microsite of the K50i 5G has revealed that it scored 8,22,274 points on the AnTuTu benchmarks. In comparison, some of the flagship phones powered by the Snapdragon 888 have scored around 8,00,000 points. This indicates that the K50i 5G may offer better performance than the Snapdragon 888 powered flagships.

The K50i 5G will arrive with a 5,080mAh battery that carries support for 67W fast charging. It will come preloaded with the Android 12 OS, which will be overlaid with the MIUI 13 skin. The Redmi K50i 5G will arrive with dual stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack. For heat dissipation, it will have a liquid-cooled vapour chamber. It is expected to have other features, such as an x-axis linear motor, dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, a USB Type-C port, and face unlock.
