Since the K50i carries a starting price of Rs 25,999, it does not compete with the GT Neo 3, which starts at Rs 36,999, and the Reno 8 Pro, which costs Rs 45,999. Instead, it rivals affordable flagship phones, such as the iQOO Neo 6 5G and the POCO F4 5G.

The Redmi K50i 5G is available in two variants in India: 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. These models are priced at Rs 25,999 and Rs 28,999, respectively. It can be bought in colours like Stealth Black, Quick Silver, and Phantom Blue. It is scheduled to go on sale through Amazon India, Mi India’s website, Mi Home, and offline stores on July 23rd, 2022.

Buyers who are looking forward to purchasing on the first sale date can take advantage of an instant discount of up to Rs 3,000 through ICICI Bank credit / debit and EMI transactions. In addition, buyers can benefit from an exchange bonus of Rs 2,500 and no-cost EMI for up to 9 months. People who still own a Redmi K20 Pro can get the K50i for as low as Rs 12,499 with exchange and card offers. Apart from these online-only offers, the company is providing offline offers, such as up to Rs 3,000 instant bank discount with ICICI Bank cards and EMI transactions or get a Xiaomi Smart Speaker worth Rs 4,999 for free.

The iQOO Neo 6 5G is available in two configurations, such as 8GB RAM + 128GB storage for Rs 29,999 and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage for Rs 33,999. It comes in shades like Cyber Rage, Dark Nova, and Maverick Orange shades. It can be purchased through Amazon India and iQOO India’s websites.

The POCO F4 5G offers three choices, such as 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The variants cost Rs 27,999, Rs 29,999, and Rs 33,999, respectively. It comes in Night Black and Nebula Green colours. At present, it is available with a Rs 1,000 discount on Flipkart.

The Redmi K50i 5G is the most affordable phone among the three. The launch offers allow buyers to purchase it for around Rs 20,000. Hence, it is a clear winner in the pricing department.

The Redmi K50i 5G houses a 6.67-inch LCD display that offers an FHD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,460, a 20:5 aspect ratio, up to 144Hz refresh rate, 270Hz of touch sampling rate, and up to 650 nits of brightness. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 support. The front side of the device is shielded by Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

The POCO F4 5G has a 6.67-inch AMOLED E4 display, and the iQOO Neo 6 features a 6.62-inch AMOLED E4 display. Both smartphones support a Full HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Both phones support HDR10+. However, only the POCO phone supports Dolby Vision among the two.

The POCO F4’s display also supports 1,300 nits of peak brightness, MEMC, DCI-P3 colour gamut, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. On the other hand, the Neo 6 5G’s display offers up to 360Hz touch sampling rate, 1200Hz instant touch sampling rate, 1,300 nits of peak brightness and DCI-P3 colour gamut. It is the only phone among the three to feature an under-display fingerprint scanner. There is no information on the screen protection of the device.

AMOLED displays are known for offering deeper blacks and more vivid colours than LCD panels. Hence, people who prefer AMOLED displays may not want to settle for the K50i even if it supports a higher refresh rate of 144Hz. Otherwise, the Redmi K50i promises a good viewing experience.

The Neo 6 and POCO F4 are powered by the 7nm Snapdragon 870 chipset. On the other hand, the Dimensity 8100 powers the Redmi K50i 5G. Benchmark tests show that the Dimensity 8100 is faster than both the POCO F4 and the Neo 6.

All three devices come with UFS 3.1 storage. The Redmi and POCO smartphones are equipped with LPDDR5 RAM, whereas the Neo 6 has LPDDR4x RAM onboard. The Neo 6 and POCO F4 feature 3GB and 4GB of virtual RAM, respectively. While the K50i supports virtual RAM, its exact information is yet to be confirmed.

All three smartphones come pre-installed with the Android 12 OS. The Neo 6 has the FunTouchOS 12.1 UI on top. On the other hand, the POCO F4 and Redmi K50i offer an MIUI 13 experience. Being a POCO device, the F4 also features the POCO launcher.

The Redmi K50i 5G and the iQOO Neo 6 5G sport a 16-megapixel camera housed inside the centrally positioned punch-hole. There is no word on the selfie camera sensors of the Redmi and iQOO phones, but the POCO F4 features a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 front camera.

All three smartphones have a 64-megapixel triple camera unit. The Redmi and POCO phones have a Samsung GW3 primary snapper, whereas the iQOO model gets an OmniVision OV64GB lens. While POCO and iQOO phones support Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). The K50i lacks support for it. The primary camera of these devices is accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 2-megapixel macro camera.

The iQOO Neo 6 has a 4,700mAh battery, which supports faster 80W charging. With the bundled 80W charger, it can take less than 40 minutes for the Neo 6 to achieve a full charge from zero.

All three phones offer common features, such as liquid cooling technology, dual stereo speakers, and an X-axis linear motor for in-game vibrations to deliver an enhanced gaming experience. The K50i is the only phone among the three to feature a 3.5mm audio jack.

With a thickness of 7.7mm, the POCO F4 is the slimmest of the three. The POCO and Redmi phones also offer IP53-rated splash resistance and an IR blaster.

It appears that only people who are not interested in an LCD panel and prefer a Qualcomm chip may opt for the POCO F4 or Neo 6.
