Redmi K60 series launch date has been confirmed. The next-generation K-series phones are set to launch at 7 pm (local time) on December 27th, 2022. At the beginning of this month, Redmi confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K60e will be powered by the Dimensity 8200 chipset.

Today, the company confirmed that the Redmi K60 Pro would feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It will be released instead of the rumoured Redmi K60 Gaming handset. The Redmi K60 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, according to rumours. Shown below is an official poster of the Redmi K60 series.

The Redmi K60e, K60, and K60 Pro may sport a similar design. The above poster reveals that the top edge of the device has a microphone, an IR blaster, and a speaker grille. It has a textured back with a rectangle-shaped camera unit at the upper-left corner. It has a triple camera unit and an LED flash unit alongside.

Redmi confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered Redmi K60 Pro has achieved the highest-ever score of 1,350,526 on AnTuTu benchmarks. According to the company, the performance of the K60 Pro will be on par with, if not better than, other gaming-focused phones. Hence, the company believes that there is no need to launch a gaming-focused phone in 2023.

Redmi unveiled the Redmi K40 Gaming edition in 2021. It came equipped with gaming-focused features, including mechanical trigger buttons. It was succeeded by the Redmi K50 Gaming. There will be no Redmi K60 Gaming next year. Instead of it, the company will release the Redmi K60 Pro.

A poster (via. Mukul Sharma) that is now being circulated on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging platform, has mentioned all the key specifications of the Redmi K60 series. Before reading ahead, it is advisable to digest the specs leak with a grain of salt.

The leak incorrectly mentions the name of the entry-level K60 series model as the Redmi K60 SE. Redmi has already confirmed that it will be called the Redmi K60E. It will arrive with a 1.5K OLED display with high PWM dimming support. The K60 and K60 Po will have a 2K OLED panel with support for 1920 Hz PWM dimming.

The Redmi K60e will have the Dimensity 8200 chipset, whereas the K60 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. Both phones will have LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The Redmi K60 will be equipped with SD8G2, LPPDR5x RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage.

The leak states that the Redmi K60e, K60, and K60 Pro will have a 5,500mAh battery. The K60e and K60 will support 67W fast charging. The K60 Pro will offer 120W fast charging. The K60 and K60 Pro will support 30W wireless charging.

For photography, the Redmi K60e will have a 48-megapixel Sony IMX582 primary camera. The K60 and K60 Pro are said to be equipped with a 64-megapixel primary camera. The entire series will come with an Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) feature for the primary camera. All three phones will run on the MIUI 14-based Android 13 OS. These devices will also offer dual speakers, a linear motor, an IR blaster, and NFC connectivity. For security, the K60 will have a side-facing fingerprint scanner, whereas the K60 and K60 Pro models will be equipped with an under-display fingerprint scanner.

In related news, the Redmi K60 is likely to get rebranded as the POCO F5 5G in the global market.
