Redmi is expected to have a power-packed start to 2023 with the launch of its Redmi K60 series. The Redmi K60 series will follow the brand’s successful K50 series and is likely to have Redmi K60, K60 Pro, and K60E. Earlier reports had suggested that there would be a Redmi K60 gaming model as well. However, a recent report points out that there will be no dedicated gaming smartphone this year. The revelation was made by one company VP Lu Weibing, (who also goes by his Western name William Lu), at the sidelines of the Xiaomi 13 launch. He not only stated that in 2023 we won’t need dedicated devices for gaming on Android but also mentioned that this trend is “doomed to die”.
In regards to the launch time, a new report by MyDrivers has surfaced, which pegs that the Redmi K60 series will launch in China in the coming month. It further goes on to add that the launch will happen before the Chinese New Year, which is on January 22. Earlier, the launch of the Redmi K series was reserved for December, but it seems that the company has postponed that by a month.
There are also new reports that suggest that all three smartphones will come with Snapdragon SoC. MIUI Polska writer Kacper Skrzypek has revealed that the Redmi K60 will come with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC, whereas the Pro variant could come with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Recently a teaser poster posted online indicated that the Redmi K60E will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8200 processor. However, this was contrary to the earlier leaks and Geekbench sightings that suggested the presence of the Snapdragon 870 SoC.
The Redmi K60, K60 Pro, and K60E have respective codenames, such as Socrates, Mondrian, and Rembrandt. It is unclear whether the K60 and K60E will be made available in markets outside China. However, the Mondrian model (K60 Pro) will release the POCO F5 in the global market and in India. The K60 Pro’s global variant’s model number is 23013PC75G, and its Indian variant has a 23013PC75I model number. It is also possible that the company will launch these phones under different monikers in markets other than China.
