Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is gearing up for the release of a budget device known as the Redmi Note 12C. The device has made its way to the IMEI database bearing the model number 2212ARNC4L, thus confirming its imminent arrival. Crucially, the phone has seemingly passed through the Federal Communications Commission or the FCC, suggesting that the Redmi Note 12C will be launched globally, including in the US.
Separately, the Redmi Note 12C has also made its way to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and TENAA, uncovering some of the hardware specs of the phone as well as its design.
Redmi Note 12C specs, battery life, availability, and expected price
Xiaomi’s upcoming budget device will reportedly pack a 6.7-inch HD+ screen, while customers will have the choice between 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM complemented by 32GB, 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of internal storage. A triple rear camera setup is rumoured, although there’s currently no specific information about the sensors and their capabilities. While the front camera resolution is unknown, we know it will be a standard notch-based sensor.
The folks at XiaomiUI have also confirmed that the Redmi Note 12C will run on MIUI builds, namely V220.127.116.11.SCVCNXM, V18.104.22.168.SCVEUXM, V22.214.171.124.SCVINXM, V126.96.36.199.SCVMIXM. These are based on MIUI 13 (Android 12). We further learn that the budget phone will be known by the codenames “aether” and “earth.”
While launch details are currently unavailable, it’s safe to assume that the phone is almost here based on the frequency of the leaks. As for the pricing, we expect the Redmi Note 12C to cost between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 when it breaks cover.
Customers also have the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ to look forward to, which is rumoured to feature a gargantuan 200-megapixel rear camera sensor and a decent 16-megapixel front camera. This device will likely feature the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset and a 5,000mAh battery capable of 120W fast wired charging. Redmi is expected to take the wraps off a few Redmi Note smartphones on December 8.
