Xiaomi is planning to launch the successor to the Redmi Note 7, which was introduced earlier this year. Recently, the company announced that it sold over 5 million units of the Redmi Note 7 series since its launch. Now Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing has confirmed that a successor is in the pipeline. While taking questions from users, he said that the upcoming Redmi Note 8 is coming soon.
Weibing responded with a message that roughly translates as ‘Redmi Note 8 is much stronger than the next door’. This means that it could come with major improvements over its predecessor. Like the Note 7 series, the Note 8 is also expected to come in standard and Pro variants. There are no concrete details regarding the Redmi Note 8, but the launch seems just around the corner.
Recently, Xiaomi confirmed that the upcoming Redmi smartphone will be powered by the latest MediaTek processor aimed at gamers. Recent news also reveals that the company is going to launch a 64MP camera phone this month. On August 7th, Redmi is hosting an event where it will talk about 64MP camera technology. Since Lu Weibing said that the Note 8 will be more powerful, the device could come equipped with a Helio G90T chipset. It is expected to sport a 64MP primary Samsung ISOCELL sensor. On the contrary, the Note 7 series features a 48MP primary camera and is powered by the Snapdragon 6xx processor.
We will know more about the upcoming Redmi Note 8 in the coming weeks.
