Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is conducting an event in China on August 29th to launch the Redmi TV. The company’s CEO, Lei Jun has now confirmed that the much-anticipated Redmi Note 8 will also be launching on the same day. Jun had shared a poster for the Redmi TV launch on his Weibo handle. In the comment section, one user asked if the Note 8 will be launched on the same day and he replied with a thumbs-up emoji. This confirms that the smartphone will arrive alongside Redmi TV.
The upcoming Redmi Note 8 is the successor to Note 7, and is expected to come with major improvements. Earlier this month Redmi GM, Lu Weibing revealed that the Note 8 will be a powerful device and will feature better cameras, battery life and a higher screen-to-body ratio than its predecessor. Xiaomi had recently announced its 64MP camera technology and teased that its upcoming smartphone will be powered by the new Helio G90 processor. It’s possible that the Redmi Note 8 could come with these specifications. Other details regarding the device are not known yet. It is also unclear whether the Note 8 will arrive in standard and Pro versions.
As for Redmi TV, the poster reveals that the television will sport a large 70-inch display. It is expected to offer 4K resolution with HDR and Dolby sound support. The upcoming TV will run PatchWall OS.
We expect a proper announcement for Redmi Note 8 in the coming days. We will have to wait for the official launch event on August 29th to know more details.
