Last year, Xiaomi introduced its latest Redmi Note series smartphones called the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro in India. So far, these are among the best selling handsets from the brand in the country. The Redmi Note 8 was offered at a starting price of Rs 9,999, while the Redmi Note 8 Pro was offered at a base price tag of Rs 14,999. Now a few months after the launch, the company has quietly increased the price of the Redmi Note 8 in the country. The handset has received a price hike of Rs 500 in both online and offline sales channels.
On Mi.com, the base variant of the Redmi Note 8 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage is now selling for Rs 10,499, as compared to Rs 9,999 earlier. In offline stores, the phone’s base variant is now being offered for Rs 10,999, higher from the previous price tag of Rs 10,499. The 6GB and 128GB model of the device, however, is still selling at the launch price of Rs 12,999 in the online stores and Rs 13,499 in brick and mortar stores.
Redmi Note 8 specifications and features
To recall the specs, the Redmi Note 8 sports a 6.39-inch full HD+ display bearing a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and a waterdrop notch above it. Under the helm purrs the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, which is paired with an Adreno 610 GPU. In the camera department, the smartphone has a quad primary camera setup at the rear. There’s a 48MP main sensor onboard, which is paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
For selfies and video calling purposes, the Redmi Note 8 has a 13MP camera on the front inside the waterdrop notch. For security, the phone is fitted with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The connectivity features are standard including 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and A-GPS. A 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support completes the list of the specifications.
