Xiaomi has launched its latest Redmi Note series smartphone called the Redmi Note 8 Pro at an event in India today. The phone has arrived as the company’s first handset to flaunt a 64-megapixel primary camera sensor at the rear. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the third smartphone in India to offer a 64-megapixel camera at the rear after the Samsung Galaxy A70s and Realme XT. Just like the other two, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also sports Samsung’s BRIGHT GW1 64MP ISOCELL primary camera. Apart from the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the company has also launched the phone’s affordable sibling called the Redmi Note 8, which has a 48MP main camera at the back.

Talking about the camera specs first, the Redmi Note 8 Pro’s 64-megapixel primary camera at the back is accompanied by an 8-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2-megapixel ultra-macro shooter, and a 2-megapixel snapper for depth sensing. For selfies and video calling, you have a 20-megapixel camera on the front, which is placed inside the waterdrop notch above the screen. The smartphone’s rear cameras are capable of recording 4K and 960-fps slow-motion videos, while the selfie shooter can record up to full HD.
As for the other specs, the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with a 6.53-inch full HD+ display, and has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, the phone has the MediaTek Helio G90T processor, which is accompanied by up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of native storage. The smartphone boots Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out of the box. Design-wise, the Redmi Note 8 has a glass back that’s curved towards the sides. There’s also a fingerprint sensor at the rear, which is placed below the quad-camera module. A 4,500mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging completes the list of the specifications of the handset.

Moving on to the Redmi Note 8, the phone has a 48MP f/1.75 primary camera at the rear. The main sensor is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the handset has a 13MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. As for the other specs, the Redmi Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display, and it is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665. Configuration-wise, the handset is being offered in two RAM and storage variants – 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. The other features include MIUI 10, a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
Redmi Note 8 series price in India
The Redmi Note 8 Pro’s 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant has been priced at Rs 14,999, while the model with 6GB RAM and 128GB memory is being offered for Rs 15,999. The most high-end model of the handset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage costs Rs 17,999. The Redmi Note 8 has been priced at Rs 9,999 for the 4GB + 64GB model, while its higher-end 6GB + 128GB variant will cost Rs 12,999.
The Redmi Note 8 series will be available from Mi.com, Amazon, Mi Home stores, and via Xiaomi authorised stores across the country from October 21st. As for the launch offers, Xiaomi has partnered with Airtel to offer its users double data on Rs 249 and Rs 349 recharge packs.
